Clubs
These are some of the SCRABBLE® clubs in Sacramento metropolitan area.

Official SCRABBLE clubs
Official clubs use NASPA's Official Tournament Rules, tournament grade equipment (rotating deluxe or custom boards, smooth tiles, digital timers) and the Official Tournament and Club Word List.
Players of all skill levels are welcome. You may want to contact the director beforehand to verify the meeting time; or you may just show up for the meeting.
New club players are usually given some allowances (e.g., use a cheat sheet, challenge without penalty, reduced overtime penalty) during the first few visits to help them get up to speed with tournament style play. It is recommended that you learn all the 2-letter words quickly.
There is usually enough equipment for everyone, as each set accommodates two players. Bring a pen and paper for keeping score (each player will need to keep score for themselves and also for their opponent, for verification).
Information for parents: youths of all ages are welcome to attend club meetings and tournaments with a parent's premission. Please note that all 178688 words in the North American English lexicon are acceptable for play, including approximately 330 words that could be considered vulgar or offensive.

Casual SCRABBLE clubs
Casual clubs generally use the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary, which is edited for home and school use (no dirty words). The use of timers is usually optional.
See the NSA website for casual club listings.
