Roseville Local Club Tournament

We are having a local club tournament (LCT) again on New Year's Eve!

Format: 1 division, 4 rounds (3 rounds pre-paired based on ratings, 4th round based on standings, depending on the number of players.

Time: 12/31/2011 starting at 7:00 PM PST sharp (please arrive much earlier so we can start without delay) and ending before midnight.

Entry fee: $5.00 (in cash only) at the tournament.

Location: Private home in western Roseville, California. Please contact the directors for directions. No public transportation, limited accessibility.

Registration: Please pre-register by Fri 12/23. Limited to 16 participants. Late registrations considered, subject to space/equipment constraints.  Update as of 12/30: we have secured all the equipment we will need, and we have space for 4 more players.

Note: Players (plus a friend) are invited to join a potluck dinner starting at 6:00 PM and stay for New Year's celebration after the conclusion of the tournament. Potluck participants are requested to bring a side dish or a dessert.

During the tournament, there will be other activities (informal SCRABBLE games and/or other relatively quiet board games) for guests who are not competing in the tournament.

October 2011

Three area players competed at the 2011 California Open in San Francisco.

July 2011

Players from our area had a great independence way weekend.  Seven competed in Reno, NV and one in Albany, NY.

In Reno, Joseph Oele had a good start and won the fifth performance prize in the preamble, exceeding expectations by 22.4 percent.

Kay Patterson won the fourth place prize in the second division of the Reno main event. Kay's record was 23W / 12L / +1042.

In the same division, Terry Vrchota won the first performance price. Terry was expected to win 13.97 games but won 22.

Also in the same division, "fun" prizes were available in different categories in each round. Area winners included Stephanie Sugano, Kay Patterson, Amnon Igra, Terry Vrchota and Joseph Oele.

Last bust not least, in Albany main event, Sam Kantimathi won the second place prize in the Collins division. The strong field included two former world champions.
